Light, Dislocated: Arik Levy’s Innovative North Lamp

Designed by Arik Levy for Vibia, the North floor lamp collection was inspired by differences in the angle and intensity of sunlight as the seasons change.

A striking composition of geometric forms, its simple silhouette is at once elegant and whimsical. Triangular shades hang from elongated carbon arms that protrude in various directions from their heavily anchored base, recalling a stylized fishing rod.

Levy’s unique design dislocates the fixture’s point of origin from its light source, delivering focused illumination to unexpected destinations—but precisely where needed due to its adjustable arms. Disrupting the traditional floor lamp design, North subtly reorients a room’s sense of balance.

True to its namesake, the LED-powered North generates a gentle yet uniform light. Rather than overwhelm a space, its ambient glow is localized, defining an area with a focused pool of light.

Featuring a mobile base and a choice of two to four carbon rods, North is versatile enough for residential and commercial environments alike. It is also offered in ceiling and wall models and comes in graphite, white, cream and matte-blue finishes.
