Vibia’s North Luminaire Brightens a Renovated Milan Apartment

Throughout the space, light and neutral shades predominate and are punctuated by pops of bright color as in the L-shaped kitchen. Here, rich herringbone parquet floors and wood cabinetry lend a warm, relaxing look that is offset by the bracing tones of a malachite dining table and the teal-blue walls of the entrance corridor.

The table, which is positioned perpendicular to the wall in a spot that visually connects the kitchen and living areas, is brightened by Arik Levy’s North wall lamp.

The luminaire allows light to be placed exactly where needed with its deconstructed, adjustable design featuring three disconnected pieces: a triangular aluminum shade containing an LED-powered light source, a slender carbon fiber stem, and the wall base.

The form cantilevers out from the wall to rest directly over the table, creating a focal point in the open layout with a strong horizontal trajectory that offsets the residence’s long, vertical orientation. Finished in black, North unifies the dining area by picking up the palette of the chairs while casting a downwards pool of light.
